← Tactical Graphics Commercial add-on · Early access

Share plans with other command and control systems

The Exchange add-on reads and writes the formats other command and control systems use: NATO Vector Graphics (NVG) and C2SIM. Export the map for another system, open what other systems send as graphics you can edit, and see exactly what each exchange keeps.

NVG and C2SIM, out and back

A plan exported as NVG and as C2SIM, with the files on screen, read back onto an empty map, then the whole sample sheet round tripped through both.

Capabilities

  • Export the map as one NVG 2.0.2 document that validates against the schema, with the APP-6(D) or APP-06(E) codes and the shapes NATO's current NVG binding assigns.
  • APP-6A and MIL-STD-2525C codes for older systems, each from its own NATO binding.
  • Export the map as a C2SIM message that validates against the SISO standard's schema or the one used in NATO's CWIX exercises, with each graphic's symbol code, points and force side.
  • Import NVG 1.4 to 2.0 and C2SIM from other systems. Graphics become editable tactical graphics; other shapes and symbols in an NVG file are kept and drawn underneath.
  • Optionally embed each graphic's full description, so a round trip through either format loses nothing.
  • A report for every exchange: how each graphic was written or read, and what the format has no field for.
  • No map library needed: it runs in the browser beside any engine, in a Node batch job, and on the command line.

Requirements

  • @zaes/tactical-graphics 4.4 or later. No map library is required to read or write NVG or C2SIM.

Delivery and licensing

The add-on is delivered as an npm package file that you install next to the open source @zaes/tactical-graphics library. It is commercial software, licensed separately from the MIT library. Evaluation licenses and integration support are available.
